Scrapbooking Baby Layout Idea.

feet-with-wedding-rings1

A few people have been asking me for some ideas for either scrapbooking baby layout ideas or for ideas on specific photos to take of their baby’s to capture specific memories. For me these ideas flow freely but I am also aware that sometimes we all get some form of mental block and end up at a loss for what to do. So I thought I would put this post together to give you all an idea that you may not have thought of.

One of my favorite layouts for newborn babies would have to be their hands and feet. They are just so tiny and sweet, so little, so perfect! But here you go, a big tip is don’t just click away taking photos of hands and feet, you need to plan the photo a little bit. For example, have you ever taken a photo something that was amazing large or small and later looked at the photo and found that the photo really didn’t do it any justice? Perhaps a really big butterfly and later in the photo it just looks like any other normal sized butterfly. Well that is what I mean, it takes a little bit of planning.

So when you take a photo of your baby’s hands or feet, make sure you also capture another object in the photo that gives a true impression of the size of your bay’s dainty sweet little feet or hands. You can use anything at all, you might choose to use your own hand or foot as a comparison or even a ruler to show the exact size. I do have a personal favorite when taking these kinds of photos and that is to use your wedding ring. Or if you do not have a wedding ring, any other ring you commonly wear.

I think it makes such a sweet photo, your wedding ring or rings hanging on baby’s big toe or around their thumb, it gives a true picture of how tiny their little feet or hands are, and it symbolizes your love by using your wedding ring. And then when you actually use this photo in your scrapbooking baby album, keep the layout clean and simple, don’t use too many photos, in fact I like to only use the one photo on the page and make that photo the center of attention. You could do a double page layout and have the feet on one side and the hands on the other side. Trust me on this one, it makes for the most adorable layout.

Give it a try and keep watching out for more ideas and tips in the coming weeks, happy scrapping.

Thanks to Amy from Flickr for the wonderful photo, simply stunning.

I am looking for something cool to do with Baby shower cards. To be put in a scrapbook. Any Ideas???

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

I want to keep these cards but I am not sure what to do with them besides leave them in a box to be sifted through. I am doing my daughters scrapbook and I thought maybe I could include them somehow but I need some ideas.

Set a goal to preserve the special & unique–and cull the cards that are run of the mill or from your boss' wife's sister. Maybe only 2 or 3 cards of the bunch should be kept whole.

Cut out cute graphics from your discards to embellish the pages. Cut out the signatures from the cards, or even the interior message & signature, and make separate scrapbook pages for each shower you had. Each page or spread of 2 pages can serve as a "guest book" for your daughter to see who her early fans were.

I bought a Vellum Quote Pack Baby Boy. I have no idea how to transfer them to my scrapbook page. Help?

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

The ones I have bought before, you cut out the phrase and rubbed it onto the paper but these arent rubbing off. How do i transfer them?

In addition to the above answer, you can use brads, eyelets, ribbons, stickers or many other things to hold them down. Be creative.

I've done the same thing. I bought a book of quotes thinking I could rub them onto wood to make signs, but they weren't rub ons. Live 'n learn. :)

I'm Making a Scrapbook For My Baby…any ideas?

Friday, January 30th, 2009

I decided to make a scrapbook for my baby instead of buying a baby memories book. Do you have any ideas about what is in a regular baby book? Like what kind of questions do they ask about before the baby is born and after and what kind of questions do they ask about the parents? like the fill in the blank questions so i can in a way make my own baby book?

I did that for my son. I love scrapbooking and thought it seemed fit. Here are the pages I included:

1. Maternity Pictures–and brief story about my pregnancy with him.
2. Ultra sound pictures–and a brief story about what we did when we found out he was a boy.
3. Picture family tree–this includes my side and his dad's side one two pages.
4. Birthday Pictures–when he was born pictures, hospital bands, stories about who was there and just funny things that happened.
5. Birth Announcement and copy of Birth Certificate
6. ALL the firsts.
——First Easter
——First Christmas
——First Halloween
——First Thanksgiving
——First Fourth of July
——First Tooth
——First Bath
——First Birthday
I think you get the point.
7. Baptism.

I pretty much told the story of his first year. I told funny stories about things he did. Used pictures to explain his favorite stories, songs, noises, and toys. I used my favorite pictures to outline everything. It turned out great.

Best of Luck and Congratulations!

Scrapbooking baby with Winnie the Pooh

Disney Winnie the Pooh Baby Handprint Scrapbook Kit

I got myself all excited the other day, I found some cute Winnie the Pooh themed scrapbooking baby supplies and decided I just had to write a post to you all about them. Any baby album is beautiful but sometimes carrying a certain theme through the whole album can just be so much fun and the results are just spectacular. So what better theme then good ol’ Winnie The Pooh?

Winnie the Pooh Poster

One of the best things about using a Winnie the Pooh theme throughout your scrapbooking baby album, is that it really doesn’t matter what the gender of baby is, Winnie the Pooh suits baby boys just as much as it suits baby girls. So you know what that also means don’t you? It is absolutely perfect as a baby shower gift as well. So if you have a friend or family member who is expecting, you can easily compile a few Winnie the Pooh supplies, like an album, some stickers and pack of themed paper and it will make a wonderful gift.

Cricut Winnie The Pooh Cartridge

The other thing of course, is if it is you yourself who is expecting, then you can use it to start scrapping some photos before baby is born. The ultrasound photos, some photos of your beautiful pregnant belly, photos of excited family members and perhaps some of the nursery as you are creating it.

So have a look and give it some thought, maybe your next album could be a Winnie the Pooh album or some other Disney Scrapbook theme, I know lots of parents who actually go with the whole Winnie the Pooh theme even for the nursery, so why not have it as your scrapbooking baby album theme as well? I’m sure you will love it.

cannot find a scrapbook for my baby?

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

i started making a scrapbook for my unborn daughter (shes due in december) my pages are 8.5×11 but i can't find an actually decent scrapbook that size to pu them in! my theme is disney, but i want the cover to be pink or disney but girly, does anyone know any good sites to find that cause when i type that in i just get 8.5×11 papers, i just need the book!

It seems we can never find what we are looking for…:) have you checked Michaels or maybe a local scrapbooking store. If not, Have you thought about making the cover yourself. If you get a plain pink album there are those great 3d stickers from Disney that you can place on the front! Buy some letter stickers and write her name too!! Just an idea hope it helps. You might also want to try the Oriental trading co. website under scrapbooking.

In the eyes of a child…there is joy, there is laughter… there is hope, there is trust, a chance to shape the future…""

Boys are found everywhere — on top of, underneath, inside of, climbing on, swinging from, running around or jumping to. Mothers love them, little girls hate them, older sisters and brothers tolerate them, adults ignore them and Heaven protects them. A boy is Truth with dirt on its face, Beauty with a cut on its finger, Wisdom with bubble gum in its hair and the Hope of the future with a frog in its pocket.

There was a never a child so lovely but his mother was glad to get him to sleep.

One of the most obvious results of having a baby around the house is to turn two good people into complete idiots who probably wouldn't have been much worse than mere imbeciles without it.

A boy is a magical creature you can lock him out of your workshop, but you can't lock him out of your heart. You can get him out of your study, but you can't get him out of your mind. i want to start a scrapbook for my new baby on the way?

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

i have never done one before, basically where do i start? i dont have any supplies either.. i've been to some craft stores and they have so many things to choose from but i feel lost. any ideas?

Congrats on your growing family! I started scrapping when my son was 9-months-old.

I've answered a simliar question in the past and my best advice it to just relax and realize that there is no right or wrong way to scrap. It should always be fun. Do you feel comfortable playing with a computer? If you do - then I would encourage you to consider getting started with digital scrapping. You can always do "regular" scrapping as well but you can easily get a feel for what you like and what your style will be by playing with a digi-program. And that way you can also decide later whether you want to do 12×12, 9×9, 8×8, 6×6 or 4×4 ;-) You'd be able to save your work for now and get albums later. Some people swear by strap-hinge and wouldn't use anything else. Check it all out and don't feel pressured to choose just one company or one line - that's silly - there is just so much cool stuff out there.

Email me if you have questions - I'll be glad to try and point you to helpful resources.
