Scrapbooking Baby

Scrapbooking Baby…my plan to make this blog into a great resource for all scrappers.

October 7th, 2008 by admin

Ok, so over the next few weeks I am going to be adding a new scrapbooking technique, tip or idea every few days that will help you with your scrapbooking baby projects. These will be extremely helpful if you are a beginner in scrapbooking, but rest assured there will be some valuable techniques for those of you who are more advanced.

There will be lots and lots of different bits of information all aimed at helping you design your layouts and learn some new things you may not of already known. I will also be endeavouring to create a sign up area where you can choose to be added to my email list, and from here I will be able to let you know what else is going on. I will let you know when I have that feature up and running, my scrapbooking baby blog is of course a work in progress, and basically always will be, because I don’t want it becoming stale and old.

There are constantly so many new things going on in the world of scrapbooking that I decided why not build a site where likeminded people can come, meet and contribute ideas to make this a wonderful site full of very relevant and useful information. I started scrapbooking probably close to 10 years ago, and I still find myself roaming from here to there at times, to find all the info and ideas I want and need, why not have as much of it as possible in the one place? I know it would have made my life so much easier when I was just starting out with scrapbooking.

I don’t know how many idea books and technique books I have purchased, I have lost count, but each book seemed to cover a different aspect of scrapbooking, and soon enough you find out there are just so many aspects to scrapbooking. I could never find all the information in the one place, so my idea is to do just that, get all the information in one place, right here at scrapbookingbaby.com

So I would love to hear your feedback and ideas, or your suggestions. If there is a certain technique you want me to cover, just tell me, use the comments section under this post or any of my posts, to tell me what you’d like. Make comments on each post/article telling me if it was useful or not, whether you liked it or not, it will all help me to try and bring you the information you and other fellow scrappers are looking for. I am asking you to be active in my blog and help me develop my blog into a great resource for all scrappers to use and enjoy. I am really looking forward to hearing from you all and at working to provide what you would all like to see here.

From one scrapper to another, Happy Scrapping!

Irish themed scrapbook for baby gift?

January 3rd, 2009 by admin

A coworker just had a baby boy and I wanted to make her a scrapbook. They are of irish descent. How can I incorporate that into the scrapbook. I don't want to put leprechauns and pots of gold all around. I find that to be kinda stereotypical.

Anyone who is of irish descent know what would be good images or any type of embellishment that I could use?
Thanks

A shamrock background paper in pastel green would be a good start. Any type that has the celtic knot would also be appropriate as would green/gold stripes or something else kind of masculine. You might use: Irish sayings/blessings, the celtic knot symbol, shamrock and thistle (which is Scottish) symbols, the flag of Ireland, the claddagh. Print the blessing around the perimeter of the page or pictures.
Maybe you could design a few extra pages and leave the photo sections blank for the parents to add pictures.
You could make your own celtic knot with yarn or thin ribbon.
You might check at Michael's, Hobby Lobby, JoAnne's, or even Target for celtic page kits.

Digital photo frame gift for mom with new baby?

January 3rd, 2009 by admin

My close friend had a baby, her 2nd, a girl. She has a 2 yr old girl. She lives very far away. I'll be seeing the baby only after 6-9 months from now. She has all stuff, clothes that babies need.

I thought of getting her a digital photo frame (where digital pix come at random, and it also plays music). Would this be a suitable gift? She loves scrapbooking, and takes lot of pictures of her kid.
Since she will be busy for a while, I thought a digital photo frame would be a good gift so she can display photos of baby, older girl and others with some nice music in the background.

She also has a fairly big, new house, so this gift would be useful even if she has one already. Also, easy for me to order it online and delivered to her address.

So, is it a thoughtful gift or not very suitable for a "new baby" occasion?
Thanks for the quick responses so far.
It is something I've drooled over in shops, but wouldn't buy it for myself…

Maybe I just should :-)
It's absolutely fantastic! I have soooo many pictures stored on my computer that I took with my digital camera, but I never seem to print them out or do anything with them - I wish somebody would have gotten me a digital photo frame! Do you want to be my friend :) ?

Baby Memory/Scrapbook??? 10 Points For Best Answer!?

December 31st, 2008 by admin

What kind of headings should I use in a baby scrapbook that I am making at home? ie.. Place of Birth, First Smile, First Holiday etc..

Please tell me all the headings that you have in your book so I could put them in mine!

Thanks!

I made sure to add a page for the aunts and uncles, grandparents, ect., any of the firsts are always a good idea but also important are the things that make you laugh and the cute looks that they make. In my sons scrapbook, working on age four now, I add all the funny things he says and does.
I also add a pocket page to keep things like b-day cards, or on my baby shower page I have an invite to the shower, I kepts pieces of the 1st bday wrap, while we were traveling I got postcards from the different states. Just little momentos to enhance the pictures!

Baby Girl Scrapbooking Ideas!?

December 31st, 2008 by admin

The hospital said they’d put my baby’s footprints in the scrapbook when I have her (February). Can anyone help me with ideas for the page with the baby’s footprint?! I’m so excited, and just getting into scrapbooking!

Thanks!

Here are some sites with layout ideas for you to browse. Hopefully it will get your creative juices flowing! Remember, it’s your book and you should do what you like. I like to look at these pages to get inspiration but you can copy the layouts too. It helps create pages quickly!

Best of luck to you and your lil one! - Mya was on my short list for girls, but I got an Elliott. ;)

Baby Scrapbook help for parent?

December 28th, 2008 by admin

I am making a baby scrapbook,

I want to add these elements:
Birth Announcement
Baby’s name(meaning, origin)
Family tree
Baby Room(bird’s eye view)
Baby’s first book and toy
Halloween
Messages from family and friends
Christening
Message from Mommy
Message from Daddy

I was wondering where I could get ideas for these pages or examples
or if any one has done these maybe some good ideas

thanks for all your help :D

Its for a girl

I’m a big scrapbooker;

Get a square shaped book - I find these are better. Get one with the clear pages that you slip paper into. It protects the pictures and decorations. I’ll assume you want stereotypical girlyness (I did!)

Get pink paper; patterns, textured, different shades. By stickers! They make everything more fun. You can even get 3D stickers, very cool. Put the birth announcement on the very first page, decorated around it with stickers.

Put the baby’s name, meaning, etc. above the announcement. Write it out on a piece of plain paper and glue it onto the patterned paper.

You can mat the announcement (glue it onto a piece of paper, then glue the whole thing on the base paper) You can mat anything - it makes it look really nice!

Make the family tree on a spread of two pages, and draw a tree! In the branches, write your information.

Baby’s bedroom; draw a diagram and take a few pictures. On the opposite page, take pictures or use stickers for the book and toy.

Halloween - if you have enough pictures, make a two page spread of it. Plenty of pictures - include candy wrappers, it’s cute!

Christening - def. two or more page spread. Plenty of pictures, the program, everything!

Messages from family and friends - two page spread. Decorate with stickers, as straight words can be boring.

Message from parents; next page, accompanied with a picture of the three of you.

Things to Consider Buying:
-Square scrapbook
-patterned, textured, solid paper (pinks)
-Stickers (3D also!)
-glitter pens
-nice pen to write captions
-scissors that cut neat borders!

LOTS OF PICTURES!! Email me if you want - I love to scrapbook!

Pregnancy and scrapbooking/baby-booking? ?

December 28th, 2008 by admin

I have a question that I’m sure someone could help me with. I’m currently pregnant and want to start working on my baby book. How would I go about attaching photos, etc in it? Glue? And is there a safe glue? Obviously rubber cement is out. Or is there some other type adhesive/tape that you would recommend instead? I do work near a scrapbooking store, I just wouldn’t know where to start or if that’s even the way to go.
Help? : )

I actually just use Scoth double stick tape (make sure it says photo safe! acid free or something like that). I know they sell scrapbooking tape, but it’s sometimes more expensive and difficult to use (you have to pull off the backing or cut it apart, etc. i like to just pull it off the roll and go!)
